Personally, search for the local media is not an easy stuff because I am a totally newcomer without any media background information in Topeka. The famous meida from my knowledge is the well known TV stations and press of USA. Fortunately, there is a meida company located in our campus. I guees everyone now have the answer. Yes, it is KTWU.
KTWU is the first television station in Kansas which founded in 1965 and now has 3 digital channels(KTWUHD, KTWU MHz Worldview and KTWU Enhance). Their audience include children and adults with their subjects to education, cultural enrichment,
international affairs, public affairs and entertainment. They belong to PBS group which I like its documentary film"Prohibition". KTWU quite welcome to people join for them or provide them qualitive productions if you are a independent producer. In addition, they acclaim that they will offer the opportunity for interested students to obtain valuable on-the-job
exposure to areas of media affairs, they have positions of internship on Marketing/Promotion, Education, Digital Media, and Television
Production, and if you want more details about how to apply for the internship for KTWU,
you can just visit their office in our campus or e-mail FRIENDS@washburn.edu.
As I described above, they have their traditional and mature platform of media, and they also like to provide chances for people who interested in. Literally it is a good chance for me to try. I like photogrphy and I had the internship in China from press to TV station. Now I want to experience the difference between American media and Chinese media. I also applied the student media in campus and took part in their orientation meeting, their purpose and work content really appeal me. KTWU also interesting on cultural enrichment which I think I can help.
