Hello everyone, my name is Ashley Southall but most people call me Annie. I’m a Mass Media major and considered to be a senior based on my credit hours. I originally started at Washburn in the fall of 2008. I slowly completed as many classes as my schedule would allow. Eventually I was forced to leave school because no classes were offered at a time that I could attend. Recently my job function changed which gave me the flexibility I needed to go back to school. I’m excited to be back but somewhat discouraged by the degree changes. The Mass Media degree does not require the same classes it had in the past. I am now stuck between my original degree with less requirements and the new degree with more accessible classes. A little tricky to navigate but I’m confident everything will work out.
Outside of school and work I’m very involved. I donate a lot of volunteer hours to the Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. I’m also part of the committee that plans their 5k walk in Kansas City every year. I have a large family and love spending time with them. In my free time, you are likely to find me doing something creative. I’m also interested in the technical aspects of film, television and radio. Those combined interests are what landed me in the Mass Media degree.
